Emergency Shelter
The shelter provides a safe respite for battered women and their
children. A family may stay up to 45 days
and receive food, clothing, counseling, case management, legal
advocacy, and help obtaining social services and permanent housing. A
developmental, therapeutic program is provided for the preschool
children and older kids alike. Counselors and case managers with
appropriate professional degrees staff the shelter. Human Options'
emergency shelter provides a healing atmosphere for abused women and
children as they begin to recover from the impact of domestic
violence.Contact the hotline at (949) 854-3554 to inquire about services.

The Shelter
People often think that a battered women's shelter is a big room with cots on the floor. Through a unique community coalition, Human Options was fortunate to be able to build a beautiful shelter. We moved into this facility in 1996. Built by craftsmen, many of whom donated their time and materials, the shelter is a place
that makes families feel at home.
