Women's Worth
Women's Worth is an open forum-style support group that allows participants
to process in an open discussion issues that they would like to discuss
related to domestic violence.
Personal Empowerment Program (PEP)
PEP is an educational group that assists clients in learning more about
domestic violence. Topics include issues, such as the causes of domestic
violence, and saftey planning that helps the client protect themselves
from further violence. PEP can either meet court-mandated requirements
and /or expand personal growth education as group members go through
assigned readings and their own experience with domestic violence.
Parenting Education Groups
Parent Education Groups are also offered as part of Human Options'
services. This is a probation and court approved program. These groups
allow parents the opportunity to come together and discuss both family
issues they are presently encountering and/or skills that they would
like to share or explore with other group members. The classes focus
on families where domestic violence has been a problem. It also deals
with single parent issues of visitation and safe exchange.
Individual and Family Counseling
Many clients choose to seek out individual or family counseling concurrent
with attending such groups as PEP or Women's Worth. The Human Options
Community Resource Center provides counseling for its clients who are
not only a part of these groups, but for those who are referred to us
from outside sources or are self-referred.
Children's Counseling
The Community Resource Center also offers child counseling services
for adolescents and child victims of domestic violence. Such techniques
as play therapy and other forms of therapeutic activities allow children
to process their own feelings related to the violence they have witnessed
and/or experienced.
Legal Advocacy
One a month (and on alternating months, twice a month), the Human Options
Community Resource Center offers a legal clinic to assist clients
in answering questions related to the legal system. There is no charge
for this clinic. Call Human Options to schedule an appointment with
one of the attorneys who assists Human Options in this endeavor.
Our legal advocate will assist clients with obtaining restraining
orders and give legal information.
